Most of our jewelry is crafted from strong stainless steel, a durable and hypoallergenic material that is naturally resistant to tarnishing and discoloration. Our gold pieces are finished with 14–18k gold plating, while our silver pieces are plated with .925 sterling silver. Select styles may be plated over brass, depending on the design.
To help preserve the beauty of each piece, our plated jewelry is finished using PVD, or Physical Vapor Deposition, a modern coating process that helps create a stronger, longer-lasting finish than traditional plating methods.

Because brass is more sensitive to moisture and chemicals than stainless steel, these pieces should be handled with extra care. Avoid wearing brass-based jewelry while swimming, showering, exercising, or applying beauty products. Keeping it dry and storing it properly will help preserve the finish for as long as possible.
Plated Jewelry
Plated jewelry features a layer of precious metal, such as gold, sterling silver, or rhodium, applied over a base metal. At Lumaire, our plated finishes are chosen to create a refined look with lasting shine.
